It is more of a custom cruiser than a lowrider however. http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff453/peatbog123/3finishedbike.jpg There is a lot of work in this thing. For example, I fabricated the chain guard myself out of aluminum. I made the rear reflector housing out of a motorcycle taillight. I also made the truss rods from stainless steel and license plate from aluminum and the hubcaps from stainless steel: http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff453/peatbog123/1fronthubcaps.jpg The paint is very metallic, but doesn't show well in the pictures. The red especially is hard to capture. It is candy red over metallic silver and sparkles crazy in the sun, but is hard to show in photos. Here's the blue/silver of the forks though: http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff453/peatbog123/forkbig.jpg It's all spray can paint--Rustoleum metallic silver, metallic blue and clear, and Krylon translucent red. Here's a couple other pictures: http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff453/peatbog123/leftrearhubcap.jpg http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff453/peatbog123/scallops.jpg http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff453/peatbog123/leftfront.jpg http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff453/peatbog123/rightrearhubcap.jpg http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff453/peatbog123/chainguardshine.jpg http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff453/peatbog123/leftrear.jpg All the parts except the parts I made and the handlebars, seat post, streamers, chain, and pedals were old stuff I got off of bikes that other people were trashing out. Here is what I started with: http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff453/peatbog123/a.jpg I bought the frame for $5. Here's a link to the build that shows how I went about building it: link to bike build

Daughter's bike built from 1960's Schwinn |

I know bondo is the normal method of body mods, but I've had bad experience with projects that I have acquired having TOO MUCH bondo that cracked and fell apart. My situation is that I want all the rolling curves that bondo can create but using sheet metal to get them, and just using bondo for the minor details. I got a 20" stingray frame that I have been reworking for a while, getting it straight and all. It was in pretty dinged up shape. you get what you pay for and 30bones got me a dinged up frame both 72 spoke wheels and the seat, so I'm not complaining. I'm thinking get the thinnest weldable sheet metal that wont fight when I start to curve it to conform, so what do I get; 18ga, 22ga, 26ga? Will Zinc coating mess up the weld? what ever it is I have to be able to mold and flex it with out hammering it all through the night. What can you guys tell me on this one?

thinest sheetmetal that can be welded? |

A bike that's uncomfortable will make cycling a chore. Even if it's a little bit uncomfortable, it'll be a LOT uncomfortable after being on it for half an hour. The most important things are to make sure that the handlebars are higher than the seat so you're not hunched over them, and that there's at least at least a couple of inches between the top tube and your crotch when you're standing on the ground, straddling the bike. No matter what your experience as a cyclist choosing the right bicycle is a very important task, which many people find difficult. Bicycles are made with different purposes and with a range of different features, with this in mind the task of buying a new cycle can often be daunting. With a large range of companies out there selling cycles it can be difficult to decide which the best bicycle is for you. However, there are many great value cycles that you can choose from, and the huge selection should make it easier for you to find a bicycle that is just right for you. Bicycle parts are now high technology and using the best possible materials for the job. Lightness and strength are the most important guiding factors for producing the best quality cycle parts. However all bike parts can work smoother with a bit of adjustment. Gears, Chains, Brakes & Wheels Gears, Chain-sets and wheels were originally first made out of heavy steel. Then gradually, the alloys took over and which are strong and durable enough to be used. As the technologies changed and evolved, so did the materials and equipment.
