Odessa Show

With 29 years of history, Nick Hernandez, David Leal and the rest of the dedicated staff who make up Texas Tours Entertainment threw down hard again to make the 2000 Tejano Bike and Car Show in Odessa, Texas, a complete success. This show was geared more toward bikes and model cars than an actual car show, but the response of car owners was so overwhelming that cars were allowed to compete on a smaller scale with the majority of the bike displays taking over the Ector County Coliseum.

Owners of all ages flooded the Coliseum with bikes, models and tricked-out Euros, bombs, trucks, traditionals and motorcycles. La gente poured in to view the wide assortment of rolling art, and speaking of art, this is one of the few shows that showcases the Latino gift of arte. Nick Hernandez not only has an art contest but he also awards a cash scholarship. With the same dedication and determination displayed by car and bike owners, several young artists from all over the great state of Texas showed up to compete in an otherwise automotive event.

Bikes were clearly the dominant showcase at this Tejano Show. One outstanding bike belong to Jose "Casper" Mancha of Odessa. His Casper-inspired two-wheeler came away with Best Bike in the 16-inch and under class. First Place in the 20-inch and over category went to Santana Morin with a super-clean ride. Best Trike went to Jerry Collazo for his wild neon trike.

Model cars and trucks were everywhere; this is one place where you wouldn't want to be a judge as the quality of models is outstanding. Carlos Hernandez swept the competition when he won First Place in the Model Car category. Model Truck went to Andy Abalos for his tricked-out slammed trokita.

Nick Hernandez, David Leal and the rest of the Tejano Super Show had another giant success with their huge bike show. They will throw an even bigger show this November with their Texas Championship Super Show. Cars, bikes and model cars from all over the Southwest will be there to compete for cash and trophies. Try not to miss this one!
